*Public Service Announcement* Carbon Monoxide: The Silent Killer. Now is the time of year to make sure your carbon monoxide detectors are installed and working properly. To date in 2014, Regina Fire & Protective Services has responded to 126 carbon monoxide (CO) calls. Dangerous levels of CO were detected in 18 of these residences. The presence of CO in these homes was caused by water heater problems, blocked chimney or vent, faulty heat exchanger, and furnace problems. An additional three calls were due to cars left running in attached garages. Most of the remaining 108 CO calls were due to an outdated, faulty or malfunctioning CO detector, or a dead battery.
