Pupdate: Fiona has been responding to medication (Baytril, Benadryl, Hycodan, Enrofloxacin, and Theophylline). While still restless, she only had one productive episode of coughing and choking last night. You can still clearly hear her laboring to breathe, and wheezing. Several tests are back. Fiona has an airway bacterial infection & bronchitis. The infection tested positive for Bordetella Bronchioseptica. Kennel Cough. The bacteria is still being cultured further. It will be another 2 weeks before Mycoplasma (canine infectious respiratory disease - found in lower lungs- CIRD) can be ruled out. She has partial prolapse of bronchioles in her lower lungs, which could be related to a previously undiagnosed as COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). I have to continue keeping her quiet, and on the same medications. Should her symptoms get severe again I have to take her back to hospital immediately. Any dogs that have been around her have passed quarantine, and no one has shown any symptoms. Recovery is expected, long term lung damage still undetermined. Please keep Fiona in your prayers.
