Purdue Extension is offering free Block Parties to child care centers, ministries and homes! The Block Party program offered by Purdue Extension provides events that include free play with blocks of all types and sizes for families and their children ages 8 months to 8 years. Parents interact and play with their children while learning how to help them develop a variety of skills such as math, science, social, physical, new words, pre-reading, creative, and problem-solving skills. Schedule a Block Party for your child care facilities during the month of April (April 3-23). This is a great program to offer parents and children at the end of the day during pick-up. Additionally, parents will receive an informational flyer about the importance of block play. The program is one hour in length, but include an additional 30 minutes prior and after the event for set-up and tear-down. For those wanting to participate, a flyer will be provided for you to copy and share with your parents about the Block Party—date and time. For more information or to schedule a Block Party, contact Susan Plassmeier at [email protected].
