Pussycat and the Dirty Johnsons review. Flairz venue bar, Hastings. 01/02/14 Bold as brass strait out of the starting blocks with a bang, this band do not mess about! Kicking off the show with no introduction other than a four count of the drummers sticks Pussycat and the Dirty Johnsons bound into a Punk n Roll powerhouse of a track. Fronting the band we have a gutsy take no prisoners Tigress, head banging and shaking this girl (Puss Johnson) has more stage presence than many big name musicians. A real ally cat she owns the room despite her petite stature. With cute but gritty vocals not afraid of screaming her heart out (my ears are still ringing three days later!). Not to mention jumping on to electric guitar for a few songs dotted through-out the set. Moving on to the main Axeman (Dirty Jake Johnson) Im not sure I heard a bum note in the whole show! Mainly sticking to rhythm with a ballsy Telecaster fuelled tone, some how creating a phantom bass player (Think I saw a guitar doubling bass module on the stage?) this guy was solid. With clear influences from psycho-billy acts such as The Meteors. Staying away from wild solos in favour of memorable riffing. After the show I found out they had a fill in drummer whos name I didnt catch. Quite the professional on the skins, but.... you know, I didnt think he fitted in with the bands image in casual t-shirt and trainers *joke*. Only minor hitch was a pedal failure which was rectified after a swift whack by Puss after the track. A great show, a solid sound what more could you want? If you get the chance to see them live make sure you dont miss the opportunity, Meow. Pussycat and the Dirty Johnsons Site; thedirtyjohnsons https://facebook/thedirtyjohnsons
