QUEENSLAND STORM: Thunderstorms swept across Queensland, Australia, on Thursday evening, affecting areas such as Brisbane, Ipswich and the Gold Coast. The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advised locals to seek shelter, move their cars away from trees and to avoid using telephones during the storm. The Australian Bureau of Meteorology cancelled its warning of severe thunderstorms shortly before 8pm local time, but said it would continue to monitor the situation.
