QUESTION FROM A COTC FRIEND: I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism - TopicsExpress

QUESTION FROM A COTC FRIEND: I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 7 years ago. Ive been taking thyroxine ever since then. Initially I noticed a huge change in how I felt, for the better. But since becoming pregnant with my daughter 6 years ago, the feelings and symptoms have come back. So, two kids later and Im back to feeling tired all the time, dry skin, weight gain (and although it is slowly happening, it is very hard to lose it), slight anxiety and just generally feeling not quite right. All the same symptoms I had pre-diagnosis. Ive been to a few different GPs over the last couple of years and all have said my blood tests are fine and that it must simply be tiredness from raising two kids. But my kids are 5 and 3, sleeping through the night and we are no longer in the sleep deprived season of babyhood. Yes, raising kids is tiring, but surely not every Mum feels like this and honestly, my life isnt THAT busy compared to others! It doesnt make sense, regardless of what the blood test results say. So, Ive started a little bit of my own research and have discovered many people with hypothyroidism noticing a big change when they switched to a gluten free diet. Im wondering if any of your readers have experienced this and whether it is worth a shot? And if so, where on earth do I start with going gluten free? All very overwhelming at the moment. Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated.
