QUESTION: WHAT DOES THE PHRASE BIBLE CHURCH OR FULL GOSPEL CHURCH - TopicsExpress

QUESTION: WHAT DOES THE PHRASE BIBLE CHURCH OR FULL GOSPEL CHURCH MEAN? DOES IT IMPLY THAT CATHOLICS HAVE ONLY HALF THE GOSPEL? ANSWER: Dont worry. Catholics have the entire gospel. It is the Catholic Church which made the Bible, named it Biblia, divided it into the Old and New Testaments, put Chapters and verses in it and printed it. A church describing itself as Full Gospel or Bible Church is probably new Pentecostal. But the use of such terms shows back backwardness and poor logic. Isnt the term Church Bible more appropriate? Does the term an Engineer MIT mean anything, or is it better to say an MIT engineer? After all, MIT produces engineers, not the other way around. The phrase “Bible Church” is supposed to tell the passer-by that the church is in accord with everything that is in the King James Bible. But wait a minute! Notice no one ever says food restaurant, book library, exercise gymnasium, or car highway! The answer is that the Bible proceeded from the Church, which, according to the Bible, is the pillar and bulwark of truth (1 Timothy 3:15). Way back in 382 AD, Pope Damasus I sent a list of the canon of the New Testament to his bishops. At the councils of Rome (382 AD), Hippo (393 AD), and Carthage (397 AD), this list was approved by the Holy Catholic Church as being the official canon of the New Testament. The emergence of Pentecostalism at the turn of the century saw the rise of religious groups claiming to restore the Christian church to its primitive fervor by a renewal of the Pentecostal gifts mentioned in the Bible (Acts 2:3-13; 1 Cor 12:8-11). They regarded these gifts as signs of the Holy Spirits work in the last days, so churches which lacked them were viewed as deficient at best and apostate at worst. Christian bodies which accepted Pentecostal gifts, whether denominational entities or independent local churches, were considered to possess the fullness of biblical revelation, hence the name Full Gospel. But what is surprising is that the so called Bible Churches or Full Gospel Churches do not follow everything in the Bible. They teach that Priests can not forgive Sin despite John 20:21-23, that the Church has no healing rite for the dying despite James 5:14-15, they do not daily break bread despite Matthew 6:11, Acts 2:42-46, they do not believe that we must Physically eat the flesh of Jesus and drink His blood to have life despite John 6:53, their history does not date back to the time of the Apostles despite Acts 1:20-26, they do not believe that individuals can suffer for the sake of the Church because Christs suffering were lacking despite Colossians 1:24, they dont teach that salvation is a sure thing despite Matthew 10:22, 2 Peter 2:20,they do not believe in Heavenly intercession despite Revelation 5:8, Revelation 8:3, they do not believe that Saints are alive and can appear to humans despite Mark 9:4-5, Matthew 27:52-53, they preach division instead of Christian Unity despite 1 Corinthians 1:10-13,they do not consider Mary Mother of Jesus to be the Most blessed of Women and they do not call her blessed despite Luke 1:42-48,they teach that the Church is not the guardian of truth but the Bible despite 1 Timothy 3:15, they do not believe that good works are a necessary component of our faith despite Matthew 25:31-46, James 2:26, Colossians 1:10, Matthew 7:21, Revelation 20:12-13, Romans 2:6. etc etc! No they do not follow everything in the Bible, then it must be assumed that the so-called “bible church” or full Gospel Church is really a tradition of man, and is not in accord with EVERYTHING in the New Testament. The Church can’t just preach John 3:16 (although that is a great verse) and ignore the rest of the divinely inspired Word of God. God gave us the whole bible for a reason. To ignore the hard parts because they are difficult to follow is totally wrong. And by the way, the only Church that adheres to all of the above is The Church started by Jesus Christ Himself (Matthew 16:18), the Holy Catholic Church, the only real Bible Church!
