QUESTIONABLE REQUESTS FOR MEMBERSHIP? WE ACTUALLY DO BACKGROUND CHECKS FOLK! As with all requests to join our group, I always scrutinize said request by visiting the potential members Facebook page. If I find a link to Washington County in some way, I usually admit that person to membership. A link can include the obvious living in Washington County ... having once lived in Washington County ... having family or friends who live/have lived in Washington County ... or ... the fact that they love to visit Washington County ... A good Facebook report means membership ... However ... if I can find NOTHING that links the person back to Washington County (OR TEXAS) that is a red flag. Also ... if I find questionable, lewd, offensive, or blue material or memberships on their Facebook page THAT is an automatic rejection. And, YES, I have rejected several in the past year. Another dead giveaway is that the request is coming from overseas and there is a bunch of foreign writing and photos all over the Facebook page. THAT is instant rejection and BLOCK to that person. A block means they cant ever visit the forum again, let alone join. Another questionable giveaway on their Facebook page is if they are members of an inordinate amount of other forums or organizations online. Usually, that indicates someone who is merely amassing such memberships and also is often a person who attempts to market things on those forums. We have had those before in our early stages prior to me getting wise to what was going on. Another rejection mode is triggered whenever the person making the request does not show up in a Facebook search. Or, if it is impossible to click on their name and go to a Facebook page. Here is one example: ZOE DENNIS ... The request does not allow for me to go to that persons Facebook page. Does any Banana Head out there in Banana Land know this person to vouch for them? If I do not hear something positive about this person in the next hour I will be ZAPPING the request and blocking the person for good. For, my suspicion is that it is just another attempt to join our forum for no good reason. I have included the persons Facebook avatar as well. It is the kid in green. (The man in the hat with magnifying glass is our Chief Inspector of Member Requests. He is the great-great-great-grandson of Sherlock Holmes. His name is Padlock.) ... Do you recognize the child used in the photo? I am ALWAYS leery of folk who do not use their real photo or rely on avatars. If a person has nothing to hide they will use their OWN photo and share their image with their fellow Banana Heads. (But, then --- these are just my opinions and beliefs. Still ... I am the Administrator of this forum and I take my responsibility seriously. It is both a privilege and a duty.) We really DO perform background checks BEFORE we willy-nilly admit anyone to this forum. It is for YOUR protection as well as OUR credibility. What are YOUR thoughts on how we run this forum?
