Question - why do people let others drive their cars and then feel it is not their own responsibility if someone receives a ticket while driving (your) vehicle? Why am I asking? Today I was on a Talk Radio (show) we were talking about the Red Light Safety Cameras and how motorist are being educated on how to STOP on red! Most call ins - (to my delight) were pleasant - (Thank you) The only issue they have with the Cameras is the fact if someone else is driving their vehicle and receives a ticket via the red light safety camera, why should they (the card lender) have to pay the ticket? First of all in Florida if you lend your car to someone that receives a ticket you can have them sign an Affidavit and they can pay the ticket. But here is my question? Why are we lending our cars to people? I get that there are emergencies- but we have to use our common sense. If we lend our car and someone gets a ticket - go to the person- talk to them- why blame the system? Also, thank Goodness it was just a ticket. Since you received a violation notice that your car went through a red light- you should be thankful that no one was caught in the crossfire while running the light. Since it was your car that you lent to said friend or relative could have actually caused a fatal crash. Who do you think the people on the other side of that light is going to go after? It only takes a second for lives to be turned upside down - we really must be our own advocates, hold ourselves accountable and take responsibility for our personal property.
