Question for those who sell crocheted, knitted, felted, woven, or other fiber arts items: I hear complaints all the time about how hard it is to get noticed on Etsy where there are so many shops that are resellers of mass-produced items or that are selling items that infringe on another partys trademark or copyright. What if we created a juried Facebook group that we publicized here? Crafters and artists would have to apply to be accepted to the group. Everything would have to be handmade. There could be no trademark/copyright infringements. Vendors would follow labeling laws (for their particular country). Potential vendors would have to submit photos of their work and a written application attesting to the quality of their work. Sales transactions would not take place in the group, but members could post links to their items for sale, whether the purchase takes place on their blog, in their Etsy shop, on their own Facebook business page, etc. Would you be interested in such a group? What do you think would be a reasonable application fee, assuming an average time of an hour to adequately review the application and submitted photos and the current for-sale items of the potential vendor? Once the group membership built up to a good level of interested, potentially paying customers, how much would you be willing to pay to be part of such a juried group with only high-quality sellers of handmade products?
