Quick little story about excuses... Tonight, Becky W. came into the gym hobbling around with one shoe off. Upon investigation, I found that she had accidentally stubbed her toe as she was prepping to leave home for the gym. She hit her toe so bad that it drew blood and the nail fell off. Most would have used this as a reason to take the day off from the gym and skip a planned workout. But not Becky. Instead, she hobbled in and told me what happened. Unbeknownst to her, she didnt completely realize that I love individualizing what we do! This was certainly a must, as everything we had planned for today involved jumping, running and rowing. Enter, rack pull deadlifts, dumbbell floor presses, and band pull aparts for strength. As for conditioning, we did a circuit of battle rope intervals, dumbbell curl and presses and goblet squats. Because of a willingness to improvise, a drive to work hard and above all, an inability to make excuses, Becky got one hell of a workout in this evening! Just because you might be down and out prior to a training session doesnt me you wont leave feeling better than you walked in. Resist the urge to make excuses! Weve all got them and theyre easy to make. But that one excuse could be whats holding you back! Knuckle up. Put in the work. And take one step closer to reaching your goals. Thanks for a fun workout session tonight Becky! And most importantly, thanks for not using your injured toe as an excuse!
