Quick update on Joshy Joshys speech therapist was thrilled, and mommys heart soared today at the improvement in Josh. He used to have some trouble enunciating and being understood. Today, he read clearly, and was understood across the room. The therapist was very happy with his progress, and said he has the inflection and quality of a news anchor. Woohoo!!! In PT, they are working on Joshys leg strength, range of motion in his neck, and balance. All of Joshuas neck ranges increased by 10-20% since he started. He is working with weights now for all his leg exercises, and for the squat and jump machine, she doubled the weight hes been working with to 80 pounds today. His balance is so good that he warmed up with a Bosu, then hopped on the balance board, which she readjusted with only two stabilizers instead of the usual four. However, this was STILL not challenging enough for my boy, who asked to place the Bosu on TOP of the balance board!!! Josh did an impressive workout, tossing the weighted ball and doing squats on this precarious contraption of his own design. Joshy struggles quite a bit in OT. Although his hand range of motion has improved, he still struggles to make a fist. His skin and joints are so tight. It is a painful process, and definitely not Joshys favorite. We work on this at home quite a bit as well, but it feels like we are fighting an uphill battle. Those who still pray for Joshy and our family, we are so grateful for you. We are in need of prayer for several areas right now. First, please pray for his hands and neck. The muscles and joints need to loosen up. We also need prayers that the scar tissue would soften and flatten. With school starting in just a couple weeks, please pray for mental strength as we try to gradually reintroduce Josh to being on campus and around his peers. The current plan is to do three classes on campus and three at home. We will probably have to work up to those three classes. Joshy is doing well, God is good, and we love you all.
