Quite a day all around. I dropped Cathy off with her DAR friends to go to Yorktown Day, and then went to Hampton to join the crew of a friends sailboat for the end-of-season race. The boys went to the Maker Fair at Scope downtown. The race was a good day on the water, with two experienced crew, two who know sailing but not that boat (Im one of those), and one total neophyte (the pastor of our church). The weather looked threatening but we only got a few sprinkles, and the wind was fresh enough to keep us underway with way on the whole time. Cathy met up with some of the Washington Family Society at Yorktown and wound up going up to Gloucester and visiting Rosewell, the ruins of yet another Washington estate. I drove up from Hampton to pick her up and spent a couple extra hours in conversation. Those Washingtons have a lot of stories to tell!
