Quote of the Week The only place to find contentment and health - TopicsExpress

Quote of the Week The only place to find contentment and health is in the place or state of consciousness that your Higher self or Truth has prepared for you. From How to Let God Help you by Myrtle Fillmore Newsletter Article Inner Peace As we read and watch the news, we find that the world appears to be in a constant state of conflict. You cannot turn on the TV without seeing the conflict in Gaza. There are images of war and death throughout the Middle East and Africa. As compassionate, sentient beings there seems to be no respite from the pain and suffering that our fellow man endures. The question emerges as to how we find our own inner peace. We cannot turn a blind eye to the bombardment we receive of negativity that the media is projecting. Then again, we must do just that. When we focus on a problem and the negative energy around it, we get caught up and add to its contagion. During the month of July, Rev Lelia Harris taught a weekly class on Meditation at Westside Unity. I was privileged to fill in for her one week while she was at Unity Convention. What she was teaching has a significant impact not just on the active participants of the class but also the world as a whole. I subbed for Rev Lelia during one of the weeks that she was teaching contemplative meditation. After I read her previous week’s assignment and also the one for my present class, I was draw into a vortex of peace. The previous week Rev Lelia had the class read and meditate about “Who and What is God?” This is a HUGE expansive assignment unto itself. It expands the mind to realize that we cannot grasp the unfathomable. We only caught small snippets of fragmented understanding. This energy that we call God created and continues to create this universe and is ever-expanding. My assignment was to teach was “Who Am I?” What is my relationship to this universe and to this expansive energy called God? It begins with understanding that who I physically am is smaller than a grain of sand compared to this universe. Delving deeper means that I must sense and feel this energy that resides within me that is called God. It is not something separate and apart from me residing somewhere “out there” but rather within the very cells of my DNA. It is the life force that is called my soul. It is a microcosm of the energy that is spread throughout this universe. Jesus said that I and My Father (This Energy) are One! With that understanding comes great power. It also delivers with it much responsibility. I am not alone. There are billions just like me just on this one planet called earth. I must love and respect that energy called God in everyone with no exception. Classes as they are taught by Rev Lelia Harris provide more than just knowledge. They raise the level of consciousness of the participant to see from the purview of their Higher Self. This establishes peace within the individual and then connects that peace to others throughout our world. This is what true prayer really is. It is not trying to change a negative situation. It begins with recognizing the enormity of God and feeling a spark of that within me. Then as I look across the globe, I simply recognize that same spark in everyone else including those in conflict right now. If we truly believe that this energy we call God is all powerful, then we are simply awakening that power in ourselves and all others. This is an awesome practice and one that should be spread across the globe. You have the opportunity to help change the world and at the same time get in touch with your own inner peace.
