RAIL WITH TRAIL FOR SHANDAKEN?! Over this past weekend I went out scouting further into the rustic parts of the Catskill Mountain Railroad Co.!. Below Ive supplied images of a Rail WITH Trail project Im working on. Its something I would love to accomplish AS a Shandaken resident. Especially if Ulster County ceases legal action against the CMRR. Utilizing the material that already exists along the rail bed.. Shandaken could have a Rail With Trail easily. I have pictures here that show how do-able a walking/mountain biking trail could be along the tracks. Once I eventually re-open the tracks between each washout, Ill create a wonderful trail for mountain bikers and walkers. The trail already exists!! These photos are proof of it!! Its ONE of many great examples that could be accomplished along the ENTIRE Ulster & Delaware Rail line. All it takes is a chainsaw to start the work.
