RANDOM MUSINGS OF A HOSPITAL PATIENT My wife keeps telling me that this is the season that I should write books .... This ones for you sweetie :-) .... I am feeling better already ..... Note to self - the idea that hospitals are for the purpose of rest is ludicrous. There is no ability to rest when one is awakened every two hours by the cheery words, It is time to take your blood ! . :-) Part of the healing process in any given crisis or trauma is the principle of hating the sickness or wound enough that you want to never undergo this level of rest again for the rest of your life. :-) Also, one more note to self ... Please pray for the nurses that have to do this kind of work everyday! There is no doubt that they receive enormous levels of rejection and abuse by unthankful and antagonistic patients who have no patience with people who awaken them with a certain tone of a cheerful voice as they hear the words, Its time to take your blood ! At the risk of sounding unthankful, I actually am not ! I so appreciate the nurses who are given the task of awakening people ( patients ) who are sleeping semi-soundly, puncturing their right arm multiple times per night while saying the words, this wont hurt much with a gentle smile on their face, all the while removing what seems to be too much blood from said patients body. :-) One more note to self - try your best to only return to a hospital to pray for others undergoing the same experience of writing several notes to themselves between 3:08am and 3:34 am as they think about what exactly it was that put them into this particular frame of mind to be inspired to write in the wee hours of the morning .... Now, these notes to self are either genuinely funny or genuinely pathetic, I will choose to laugh about it .... And write about it .... And remember that it is ok to have and exercise from time to time the great gift of sarcastic humor .... As long as you have a smile on your face and gratitude in your heart for doctors and nurses who have an incredibly difficult job to do every single day .... Lord, bless them and keep them .... Far from me ! Now THAT was funny ! All kidding aside .... If you are or have been a doctor or a nurse at any given point in your life ----- Honestly, Thank You for the fortitude and grace and compassion with which you do your jobs every day. It is no easy task ! It is also no easy task being the patient who needs rest ! I think I am feeling better and somewhat more normal because I really would like to go home to rest ... And home, right now, means ANYWHERE BUT A HOSPITAL ! My car in the parking lot is sounding pretty good right now. RANDOM MUSINGS OF A HOSPITAL PATIENT SIGNING OFF FOR NOW ...... I only have one hour and ten minutes until I hear those cheery words again .... its time to take your blood ! .... Followed by the words have a nice day ! ..... Faye, I think you are right sweetie, it IS time that I start writing books ..... So, I am starting with comedy or tragedy - Im not quite sure there is a discernible difference ... At what is now 4:00 a.m. This is wildly therapeutic ! I hope you all can see the humor of it all ! Day Two is now just on the horizon .... I started out in the Cardiac Ward and they might be transferring me to the Psych Ward later this afternoon .... The nurses warned me that the might drive me crazy. Little did they know that it was not a far drive at all!
