RAP ARTIST TO GET A TASTE OF CROSS COUNTRY RACING Archie - TopicsExpress

RAP ARTIST TO GET A TASTE OF CROSS COUNTRY RACING Archie Rutherford won’t be short of entertainment on the Ford Dealer 400, the penultimate round of the Donaldson Cross Country Championship, at Black Mountain Hotel in Thaba ‘Nchu on October 11 and 12. The celebrity co-driver who will share the Imperial Automotive Nissan Navara with Rutherford will be Afrikaans rap artist Jack Parow. The Bellville born artist was in standard three or four when he heard Snoop Dog’s Doggystyle and decided he wanted to be a rapper. Parow started out rapping in English but decided Afrikaans worked better for him and is no stranger to a little controversy. Earlier this year a story that he had been arrested, before the annual Oppkoppi music festival, for disturbing the peace at the Vaalkop Dam near Northam turned out to be a hoax. Jack joins singer/entertainer Heinz Winckler and sports stars Jonty Rhodes, Stefan Terblanche, Natalie du Toit and surfing star and international model Roxy Louw who have sat alongside Rutherford in the Celebrity Challenge. The challenge was set up to spread the cross country message to a wider audience. The Imperial Automotive Navara runs under the Regent Racing banner. South African national Off Road Association (SANORA) marketing executive and Regent Racing team principal Terence Marsh said the concept had proved to be more than successful. “All the celebrities have been wonderful ambassadors for cross country racing,” Marsh said. “The fact that Jonty and Stefan came back for second helpings and have now asked for a third indicates just how much the celebrities enjoy the experience, and also shows cross country racing is addictive. “Jack is a real character and Archie won’t be short of entertainment and a few laughs over the race weekend.”
