RARE Bird alert! We finally got good documentation photos of a rare for the LRGV Brown Thrasher. These birds are common in the northeast, but they dont usually make it this far south in the winter. Theres less than handful of records in Hidalgo County. The very common resident Long-billed Thrasher is often misidentified as a Brown Thrasher, but the Brown Thrasher has a straight bill rather than down curved and they are also much more rufous colored.
