READ this and you will understand the current state of affairs. All those in government who are making a mockery of the process of recovering misapplied/ looted funds the government helped through negligence and acquiesce in stashing away (in one estimate GHc 1bn in Gyeeda, SADA, SUBAH, National Service Scheme) should continue tickling themselves. The jail list is getting longer. Kojo Anan Ankomah writes Are they getting it twisted, deliberately, or is that the permanent state of their minds? We initially gave the Audito-General 30 days. Then there was the initial hoitty-toitty letter from an Ag. Auditor-General, which sent them into near orgasmic raptures. We hit back, straight to the solar plexus. Double tap, as the Navy Seals call it. Winded, the cheerleaders went silent, crawled back into their caves, complaining that we are arrogant. Behind the scenes, human emissaries were sent to assure us that we should expect a vanilla ice response, and that there was no need to fight. We respected that. On the 29th day of the ultimatum, the Auditor-General, true to his word, sent a response, 29 pages. He stamped it CONFIDENTIAL. Wisdom and good sense required that we give him the benefit of the doubt and respond to the issues he had raised, and to see if we could find common ground. While many slept and ate during the Chrismas, OccupyGhana was working on its response. On Friday, we delivered a 30-page response to him, which is available for anyone who wants to read. Then we released a press statement. This a democracy. It demands patience and tact.
