[READER-SUBMITTED] Meridian Health is encouraging the community to “Get Your Joints in Motion” by hosting free educational events throughout the month of June to promote the importance of bone and joint health. Living with pain can rob you of moments like playing with your grandchildren, going for a morning jog, or sightseeing for a day. Through these free events, physicians will be discussing joint replacement as an option for getting rid of the pain and getting back to an active lifestyle. On Thursday, June 27, from 8:00 am to 10:30 am at Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Lakewood, enjoy a continental breakfast while listening to an informative presentation by Nader Hebela, M.D., and Joel Fechisin, M.D., on total joint replacement including diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery options. Attendees will also learn tips on improving their golf swing from an Eagle Ridge golf professional, and stretching and strengthening exercises from the organizations fitness experts. Additionally, on Tuesday, June 18 from 6-8pm at the Sheraton Eatontown Hotel, Stephen Kayiaros, M.D., will provide a presentation on understanding your options in diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery of total joint replacement. The dinner event will include an interactive demonstration of stretching and strengthening exercises, as well as tips on how to improve your golf swing from a local golf professional. On Thursday, June 20 from 6-8pm at The Reception Center at St. Clement, 172 Freneau Ave. in Matawan, guests are invited to a dinner buffet including an evening of jazz and swing music and dance instruction from local studio experts. Michael Cunningham, M.D., will provide an informational session on total joint replacement. On Monday, June 24 from 8:30-10:30am at the Rechnitz Conference and Educational Center at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, Anthony Costa, M.D., will discuss total joint replacement and treatment options over a continental breakfast.
