REALITY CHECK: A simple test for the direction in which your Deen is headed: when you think that you could die today (is it possible youve never thought so?), are you more concerned about the welfare of your loving, adorable family i.e. wife and children than you are about your uncertain situation in a strange, unfamiliar, dark grave? If the former, you may need to reassess. Because despite our pretensions to being Superman to our families, the truth is that it is ONLY Allah SWT who has sustained them thus far. It is absolutely irrelevant that you shall not be there for them. But the grave? It is the good you have done on earth and the prayers of that loving family that make the trial of the grave bearable for you! Neither you nor your loving family can physically sustain you in the grave. What good have you invested in preparation for your next residence? Why do we worry so much about the things we are helpless about such as the welfare of our families after our passing that we do the despicable things we do?
