REFLECTION: When we first started the MRO Good Samaritan - TopicsExpress

REFLECTION: When we first started the MRO Good Samaritan program a few years back, it was made to conduct rider rescues all over the country through the FB pages and the MGS Samaritan directory... We had created the program with some guidelines to protect our rescuers from such evil doers roaming the streets... Rules like verification of person asking for assistance, to preferred meeting place and companionship during the rescue... I never imagined that I would experience this first hand... And I never thought that the events would come one after the other... On my way to San Lazaro, my battery died on me but it didnt stop me from getting to Caltex station... When I got to Caltex, the spindle on my scooter broke rendering the kick starter useless since I didnt have an electric starter... Nevertheless, rescue came as soon as I requested for it... People from near the area came to assist and send me parts... Jayboss, a shop owner who is just nearby came with tools and his mx... We exchanged tranny covers so I can use his kick start... With at least 5 able mechanics working on all the bikes, the exchange was quick... When we got the bike running, we went our separate ways and me and the rg team went on to visit a fellow rgs and the wake of his grandfather... After that, we all sad our goodbyes and left for Espana for some late night bulalo... But upon reaching the rail road tracks on our way back to San Lazaro, the bike died on me... While attempting to restart the bike, the spindle teeth gave up on me and had rounded up rendering the kick starter useless again... Now came the pushing part... Dir Nancy has lent ua hwr scooter so we can push my ride to its next waypoint... After figuring out the transfer of back rides and swapping of bikes, we then headed off via push mode... I was the one pushing one of the rgs till we reached espana, e Rodriguez, cubao, aurora and then katipunan... Upon reaching katipunan, we checked online and found out that the ones that were supposed to take over the pushing was at C5 corner P. Tuazon assisting another rider who fell... We followed to the location and saw them right at the corner... After assessing the condition of the rider, we sought the assistance of an ambulance to transport the rider who clearly had a broken collarbone because of his mishap... Then the victims dad arrived... He decided to just take his son to Labor Medical... I then asked another rescuer to guide them to then hospital as we pushed on home since the rider was stable and able to get on his bike as a pillion while his dad (who is a rider himself) drove the bike to the hospital... From that point on, we then pushed home where I gave the boys coffee and we exchanged stories... All in all, the experience was simply heartwarming to say the least... Thank you everybody who had come to help in every which way they could... This is a night to remember... And this is how we are in MRO... Kudos to all who were present whether offline or online for this rescue... God bless all of you and may we all continue to help those who are in need of assistance... Ahooo ahooo! PS: please tag yourselves in the photos... You know who you are... #proudmronian #rescue #mrogoodsamaritanprogram
