REGI committee: main questions to be discussed (23-24 September 2013). One major part of the REGI meeting that is taking place on 23-24 September 2013 will be devoted to the exchange of views with Mrs. Elżbieta Bieńkowska, Polish Minister of Regional Development and with Mr. Daniel Braun, Czech Deputy Minister-State Secretary, and Ministry of Regional Development on the implementation of Cohesion Policy in their countries. On 24 September 2013 from 16:00 to 17:30 the REGI Committee will also hold a Public Hearing on "The experience of Central and Eastern Europe in implementing Cohesion Policy: lessons learnt and future perspectives". This public hearing will focus on the experience of Member States from Central and Eastern Europe with regard the implementation of the current programming period. On 23 September 2013 the REGI committee will contribute to the procedure on multiannual financial framework for the years 2014-2020 by presenting a draft opinion on that question. And that day the Rapporteur Mr. Vaughan will present the working document on "EU Member States preparedness for an effective and timely start of the new Cohesion Policy Programming period". In this document the Rapporteur is trying to explain the approach of the advanced Member States in preparing for the implementation of the future Cohesion Policy. On 24 September 2013 the REGI committee will vote on the opinion "Multiannual financial framework for the years 2014-2020". This procedure only allows for consenting or not consenting to the adoption of the MFF by means of a single vote, and no amendments may be tabled. That day the exchange of views on the draft opinion " Regional quality branding: towards best practice in rural economies" will take place in the REGI. According to the rapporteur Mr. Imbrasas, the regional quality branding is important for local territories and rural economies and can serve as significant promoters of regional identity. Inter-institutional negotiations on the common provisions on European Funds and repealing Regulation N 1083/2006 will go until the end of September with the aim to reach a first-reading agreement and to adopt the regulation in the October second plenary session. Other questions that are put on the agenda in the REGI meeting on 23-24 September include: presentation of the complementarities between the four pan-European programs (ETC); presentation of the ESPOM project " Europe in 2030: territorial challenges ahead"; and presentation of the independent report " Mind the gap-Education inequalities across EU regions". The next REGI meeting is scheduled for the 14 of October 2013.
