The Department of Tourism is pleased to announce the holding a ground-breaking event in the annals of the tourism industry and local governance thru the conduct of the 1ST NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON TOURISM GOVERNANCE with the theme “Sustainability and Inclusivity in the Governance of Tourism Destinations, ” on November 25-26, 2013, SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City, MM Held in partnership with the University of the Philippines - Asian Institute of Tourism (UP-AIT) and the Tourism Foundation, Inc. (TFI), the event is designed to provide the necessary information to enlighten the participants on the roles, responsibilities and opportunities open to local government units that are pursuing tourism as a sustainable development tool. Among the topics to be presented include though not limited to the following: 1) The National Tourism Act 9593 – The Value of DOT Accreditation; 2) The National Tourism Development Plan – How Local Government Units Can Tap the Promises of the Plan; 3) Best Practices in Tourism Governance; 4) Tourism Product Development and Marketing; 5) The Roles, Values and Challenges of Local Tourism Offices and Organizations; 6) Effective Coordination between National and Local Government; 7) Niche Challenges in Destination Management; and 8) Heritage Conservation Challenges.
