Galley, LVN 10/13 – 11/20 M-TH 5:15 – 9:30 pm $895 EKG Tech L. Morgan, RN 10/13 – 12/8 M/TH 9 am – 3 pm $1,200 Clinical Medical Assistant: The Clinical Medical Assistant program trains students in the skills necessary for employment in any modern medical facility. Students will become proficient in a variety of clinical and laboratory procedures and many administrative roles. Clinical medical assistants perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep physician, podiatry, chiropractic and other health practitioner officers running smoothly. Students will study medical terminology, pharmacology, basic EKG, phlebotomy, and medical billing. Graduates of this program may find employment in clinics, hospitals, and laboratories where both administrative and technician skills are required. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Clinical Medical Assistants earn a median annual salary of $28,270 in Texas and $25,960 in Killeen, TX. The median annual salary for a Clinical Medical Assistant in the U.S. is $30,550. Course cost covers tuition, textbook, supplies, National Healthcareer Association certification exam. Phlebotomy: This course provides phlebotomy instruction to the student so that he or she has a working knowledge of collecting blood while emphasizing patient safety, quality assurance, and universal and standard precautions. Phlebotomy Technicians may work in hospitals, labs, clinics, doctors’ offices, or institutional facilities. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Phlebotomy Technicians earn a median salary of $27,800 in Texas, $26,780 in Killeen, TX, and $30,910 in the U.S. Course cost covers tuition, textbook, supplies, National Healthcareer Association certification exam. The Nurse Aide works closely with patients and residents, assisting with bathing, grooming, and feeding. Working closely with patients, CNAs are responsible for basic care services such as checking patient vital signs, ambulation, and activities of daily living (ADLs). The Certified Nurse Aide may work in nursing homes, hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, long-term care facilities, doctors’ offices, home health agencies, and independent living facilities. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Certified Nurse Aides earn a median annual salary of $23,150 in Texas and $24,490 in Killeen. Jobs are plentiful in this field and many nursing homes are offering sign-on bonuses. Course cost covers tuition, textbook and workbook, and classroom supplies. The Electrocardiogram (EKG) Technician is a member of the healthcare team whose primary duty is the performance of electrocardiograms on patients. An electrocardiogram of EKG measures the electrical activity of the heart and can be used to diagnose a range of heart diseases. Duties of the EKG Technician include setting up and administering EKGs and stress tests; preparing patients for Holter or ambulatory monitoring; editing and delivering final test results to physicians for analysis; scheduling appointments; and transcribing physicians’ interpretations. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Certified EKG Technicians earn a median salary of $29,610 in Texas and $29,278 in Killeen.
