REIGNERS WORLD MORNING DEVOTION 26-11-2014 BY PST. JUSTICE IBELEGBU. Topic: The gift of a Garden. Text: And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. (Genesis 2:15). A gift is a thing given willingly to someone without payment; a present. Gift-giving is an act that involves two entities, one at the giving end & another at the receiving end. The giver of a gift expects nothing from the receiver of the gift, other than to accept & cherish the gift. Whenever a gift is accepted & cherished, the giver becomes happier. A lot of things place value on a gift among which are, the personality behind the gift & when the gift met a felt need etc. People like gifts so much & most times dont appreciate or value it because it cost them nothing. Gift most times signify love. Gift can come from parents, relations, friends, spouse etc but the best gift is from God. The book of James confirmed it that every good & perfect gift is from God (James 1:17). He knows whats best for you. To prove his love for man, he gave us the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ (Romans 6:23). God really loves you and I; and He gives us gifts out of love (John 3:16). From our text, God gave man a gift after creation; not just an ordinary gift but a garden. A piece of ground, often near a house, used for growing flowers, fruits, or vegetables, is a garden. Garden provides comfort, as flower represents comfort; it provides food, as fruit and vegetable represent food; the food and comfort are not to be gotten through much struggle as every garden is near to the house. God gave man that which is nearest to him, to provide comfort & feeding. Oh, what a wonderful gift! The only duty man has is to dress & keep the garden. Not to dress alone but to dress and keep...When your garden is only dressed and not kept or kept and not dressed, it becomes adversely affected. NOTE: Gift is a symbol of love but not all gifts are given for love. When a gift lacks value, it gets soured as there will be no preservatives for it. God gave every individual the gift of a garden, thats the first gift of God to every human being. The essence of the garden was for comfort & feeding but work needed to be done to keep it. Until you work, your garden will remain unkept. PRAYER: Father, thank you for the gift of a garden to me. I request for the grace to keep the garden in the name of Jesus Christ, amen. Beloved, keep your garden.
