Born in Ayrshire, Scotland to parents who were factory workers, he moved to Canada when he was twelve. For decades, he worked across Canada in rail yards, construction sites, and in the Yukon bush, all the while writing poetry, setting it to melodies in his head and singing it to himself as he worked. A truly authentic folk singer, Francey is a documentarian of the working person who never imagined earning a living from his music. On Tuesday 19th August, I sent out the list of everybodys gigs (according to my records) from 1 July 2013-30 June 2014 so you can prepare your APRA Live Performance Returns. If you did not receive an email with your details, please let me know! Note: I make no guarantee that what I send you will be 100% correct, so you will need to check it against your own records (get back to me if you find any discrepancies). I included instructions on how to enter the information - one person has already told me it looks complicated - but it will all make sense once you open the APRA web site apra-amcos.au, and it is worth the effort because you will get PAID for performing your songs (that person will make over$200).
