REMARKS BY ABZ LEADER FR. FRANK BWALYA - MAIDEN PRESS CONFERENCE IN CHOMA - JUNE 27, 2013: ____________________________________________________ ABZ : NEW ZAMBIA - NEW THINKING... Today I have the honour to address our maiden press conference as Leader of Alliance for a Better Zambia (ABZ). I thank God for making it possible for us to have our first press conference here in Choma, a town known for its rich political history. Here in this beautiful town the famous Chona Declaration was pronounced. As we approach the celebration of the Golden Jubilee of our independence from colonial rule, we are here again, this time to make a twofold declaration that we the new people commit ourselves to creating a Zambia where all citizens enjoy their rights and freedoms and that we shall continue to uphold the tenets of democracy and multi-party politics. We want to build a Zambia where all citizens should have their fair share of the national cake, we want to create a Zambia where common good and good governance reigns, a Zambia of smiling citizens. Our people have sacrificed for too long. Our people have been paying a heavy price to subsidize lazy and selfish political leaders who only care about themselves and their relatives. Our people have been manipulated and abused for too long. They have been exploited and reduced to beggars. The government of Mr. Michael Chilufya Sata and is personal to holder Patriotic Front also known as poor finishers has started behaving as if they are the ones give rights and freedoms. They have decided to forget that human rights and freedoms are God-given. As such people are being brutalized everyday including us opposition leaders. Our people are living in fear because Mr. Sata has brought back the worst form of one party state mentality. We have a message for this country and we have started unpacking it and we are happy that many Zambians especially people with new mentality are appreciating it. We shall say more at the launch of the party set for end of next month. For now allow me to highlight some of the cardinal points about what our party stands for: Party Vision: To be a caring, transparent and accountable party. Mission Statement: ABZ exists to provide political leadership that promotes common good and good governance. National Vision: A Zambia of God fearing citizens who equitably share the fruits of economic progress. Philosophy: All things exist to give the human person a life filled with joy and hope. Values: Truth, Justice, Sharing, accountability and hard work. MEMBERSHIP: Any person with a clean record who commits himself or herself to the vision and values of ABZ can join the Party. AIM: The aim of ABZ is to provide sacrificial and forward thinking political leadership that accelerates development. OBJECTIVES 1. Creation of a Zambia where all citizens equitably benefit from national development; 2. Creation of a united nation characterized by love, joy and hope; 3. Creation of a democratic society where respect for the rights of all citizens and the Rule of Law prevail. COLOURS OF THE PARTY White - for purity, transparency and accountability; Red - for sacrificial love and hard work; Orange – for prudent utilization of resources. MOTTO: A better life for all. PARTY SYMBOL: A black pot with a ribbon of the Party colours around it. This symbolizes the duty of leaders to provide food for the people. Food here represents basic needs for the people. All citizens should benefit. May I conclude by stating that I have offered myself to lead ABZ and that I will do everything with love, sincerity and sacrificial hard work. I want to leave a legacy of a politician that loved people because for me being a politician is a calling from God to serve the people especially the vulnerable in our society. Since the people are happy with the role we are playing we can be sure that God is happy with us. God bless Zambia. I thank you all. Fr. Frank Bwalya ABZ Leader
