REMINDER Malta Review of Educational Research Lecture Series (28 Mar.) The Editorial Board of the Malta Review of Educational Research and The Valletta 2018 Foundation would like to invite you to the following lecture: How do emotions affect the way people learn in history museums? Dr. Sheila Watson, University of Leicester It is the purpose of this lecture to explore how history museums in particular are sites of emotional expression and regulation, how they produce affective responses, and how the values associated with such emotions are expressed – in other words how they not only stimulate us to think but also to feel and what that tells us about the histories they produce and ourselves. Thus this lecture is about what emotions do and how their evocation is used deliberately or accidentally in museums, and why this should matter to us, particularly when we come to understand how people learn and understand the past. Mr. Sandro Debono, Senior Curator at the National Museum of Fine Arts and Project leader for MUZA, will respond to Dr. Watson’s lecture. Date: Friday, 28th March, 2014 Venue: Music Room, St. James Cavalier Centre for Creativity, Valletta Time: 1800hrs Chair: Professor Carmel Borg, Editor MRER (mreronline.org) and Coordinator, MRER Lecture Series
