# REPOST HERMANUS AND ALL OVER SA REALLY BEAWARE URGENT WARNING TO OUR HERMANUS RESIDENTS: There have been numerous cases of dog poisoning in the Onrus/Vermont area lately. PLEASE keep your dogs/cats inside and if they go outside keep an eye over them. What typically happens is that this poison (reminding one of poppy seeds) is hidden within a piece of meat, like a small piece of vienna, or chicken heart or whatever. Typical symptoms are: Vomiting (or trying to vomit), neurological symptoms, muscle tremors, weakness especially in the hind legs, and sudden collapse. If not treated immediately it can cause a dog/cat to become comatosed, having respiratory collapse/failure and eventually death. Please get your dog/cat to a vet as soon as they start showing symptoms or if you think they have been poisoned.
