REQUEST FOR RELIEF (please share): As you are all aware, the J&K Govt is still not fully functional. I understand the Govt has made some announcements about free food rations but I think it will take some time to implement these decisions. In the meantime, I have been asked to seek help for 1000 families in Anantnag and 230 families in Nowgam that have receive NO relief from either Government or nongovernmental institutions. This is not to say volunteers are not trying but the magnitude of the problem is extremely large. In any event, a few of us put together requirements for a family (of 5) for 1 WEEK. I am listing these below. Rice: 10.50 Kg Dal (Moong or Masur): 1.75 Kg Oil: 1.25 Kg Lactogen: 0.70 kg Milk (powder): 0.70 Kg Salt: 0.70 Kg Sugar: 0.70 Kg Bath Soap (1 piece) Detergent Soap (1 piece) If any organisation or group of volunteers can arrange this 1-week relief pack for 1250 families, please let me know by emailing me: atworksalman@gmail. In addition, blankets and sweaters are in great demand. Also basic medications and chlorine tablets. If anyone in Srinagar has these items, please let me know.
