RESPONSIBILITY SUCKS. Sometimes I wish I lived in the dungeon where I aint owe nobody nothing; where anything goes and theres no alarm clock to poke me up in the wee hours of the day, where my only worry is something like Oh, boy. It was a swift run...but I gotta outrun him. Now Im stuffed. It was a satisfying meal. Sometimes I wish I lived free in the wide open air where I could occasionally snarl at creepy ripples in the wind; where strength reigns supreme, and with nobody telling me things to do. But those are mere wishes. To deal with it, Ive gotta place it where it belongs and face my life. Change is good, though it aint pretty. Its refreshing to hope that someday Ill grab the skirts of passing opportunity and ride on a horse back like a king. Trouble, however, is that opportunity now has wings, and it aint gonna fly low. So, I may wait for ages. Okay. What about closing my eyes and pretend nothing exists? Sure thing. I can. But my responsibility aint going nowhere. It still shows up and bangs at my door and hunts me down like a rabid dog. What if I lock myself down away from the buzz and frenzy of the modern world? Sure, I can. But theres one thing I cant keep away: RESPONSIBILITY. IT SUCKS. 100% of the time. It just does. And studying medicine makes my burden way heavier. Now my mind is made up never to leave anything to chance. Ive gotta face it all head-on. Thats the only road to freedom. Nail my responsibility down and it will never crawl back at me. Yeepa! Ive got an idea. .....still that little oak tree that weathers every storm.
