HOW THE CHURCH WAS ESTABLISHED: The church was first established on Sunday 27th of July 2014 by God’s servant Rev. Nana Yaw Agyemang the missionary and the visionary and his dear wife Rita under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. After many weeks and months of prayer seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit, God in His own infinite wisdom and timing, finally gave them the mandate to begin the new work. As God put the burden on the heart of Nehemiah to go back from exile to build and restored the walls and the gates of Jerusalem that were destroyed by their enemies. God commissioned them to start Restoration Gate Ministries on the above mentioned date. The Name of the church derives from the following Scriptures as there is no scripture without spiritual significant meanings. (Neh. 2:3-5; 3) “And said unto the king, let the king live for ever, why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ sepulchres, lieth waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire.” Verse 4 “Then the king said unto me, for what thou make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven.” Verse 5 “And I said unto the kind, if it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers sepulchres, that I may build it.” (Nehemiah 3:1-32) When you read the account of Nehemiah chapter three and the entire scriptures, we discover that gates have their spiritual significance meanings. In the Old Testament crucial decisions were being made at the gate. (Esther 4:1-17)(Matthew 16:18) affirms that, “And I say also unto thee, thou art Peter, and upon this Rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” The same manner all the ten gates mentioned in Nehemiah chapter three have their own spiritual significance meanings in relation to our Christian faith. The first gate is the Sheep Gate: (Neh. 3:1) The Sheep Gate represents Redemption. Jesus was offered as sacrificial lamb for our sins. The second gate is the Fish Gate: (Neh. 3:3) Spiritual meaning of the Fish Gate is that after the Sheep Gate redemption in the blood of the Lord Jesus begins fishing of men, meaning preaching of the gospel to win souls for Jesus Christ and for the Kingdom of God. The Old Gate is the third gate (Neh. 3:6) After the Sheep Gate and the Fish Gate the next one is the Old Gate. Spiritually it means death to the old - self. Jesus died to bring newness into our lives. The Holy Spirit brings regeneration and sanctification takes place by the blood of Jesus. The Fourth Gate is the Valley Gate (Neh. 3:13) describes wandering around of the disciples of Jesus Christ. The valley gate describes how we must dig deep into our lives and reflect on the word of God and become doers of the word. The fifth Gate is the Dung gate (Neh. 3:14) which represents the smell of sin in our lives that can destroy our heart and separate us from the Love of God. We must die to our sins and put the new man. The sixth Gate is the Fountain Gate. (Neh. 3:15) Its spiritual meaning implies the fact that water is life and Jesus is the Fountain of life and the living water that when one drinks from it he or she will never taste anymore spiritually. John 7:38 The seventh gate is the water Gate (Neh. 3:26) which tells about God who is the Ultimate source of the Holy Spirit through our Lord Jesus Christ. Water is one of the attributes of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament. The Spiritual meaning of the water gate is to allow the Holy Spirit to help you live practical Christian life leading to eternal life. (John 4:13-14) The eighth gate is the Horse Gate. (Neh. 3:28) It represents spiritual warfare in our Christian faith. Eph. 6:10-18 The ninth gate is the East Gate (Neh.3:29) Its spiritual meaning is the return of the Messiah and waiting of our Lord Jesus Christ. Rev. 22:20 The tenth Gate is the Gate Miphkad. (Neh. 3:31) It means numbering or census. Ezekiel 43:21 The order of the gates in Nehemiah Chapter 3 depicts clear evidence of growth in our Christian faith. We grow from one degree of faith to another degree of faith in our daily walking with God. Gates are spiritually significant in our Christian faith. Expression of the book of Nehemiah about repairing the wall and the gates from the Sheep Gate and comes to an end to the Sheep Gate. (Neh. 3:32). Everything begins with Redemption of Jesus Christ and forgiveness of sins and comes to an end of it, because it is the foundation of our Salvation. (Ezekiel 44: 4) “Then brought he me the way of the north gate before the house and I looked, and behold the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord: and I fell upon my face.” Mission Statement The Great Commission is the primal mission of Restoration Gate Ministries.
