REVIEW: Rugrats in Paris: The Movie (2000) The gang is at it again! With more gags, laughs, and shenanigans than ever. Wishes come true for the young and old as everyones favorite babies make their way to the Reptar Land amusement park in the City of Lights. After the loss of Chuckies mom (who we never meet), Chuckie and his dad, Chazz, begin looking for love at the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Arc de Triomphe, and everywhere in between. As Chazz and Chuckie find out, finding love in the city of romance can be more difficult than it seems. The first thing audiences will notice is the impeccable writing (from dialogue, to plot, to musical cues!) from the team at Nickelodeon. This masterpiece film is a step up from the first Rugrats movie, with more developed & universal themes for both the young and old. The art director, Gena Kornyshev, creates a beautiful visual wonderland with smooth, bright, colorful animation. The pacing of the cinematography was spot on, and very Nolanesque. Each scene truly comes to life with as the film finds its voice and joyfully parades us through the streets of Paris. The film stays true to the television program throughout, which will make longtime fans of the show happy. All of this topped off with first class voice acting from the likes of Christine Cavanaugh, Susan Sarandon, Tara Strong, and Charyl Chase & an amazing soundtrack from the best artists of the 2000s: Dido, Baha Men, and Aaron Carter. If you want to see a fast-paced, plot-driven, Kubrickian family masterpiece of cinema, then this is the film for you! This could very well be the best animated feature ever to be shown on the big screen! Guaranteed laughter, tears, and maybe even a new addition to the gang!
