RHAPSODY OF REALITIES FRIDAY, JANUARY 17TH PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME THE BREAKING OF BREAD AND PRAYER And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lords death till he come. (1corinthians 11:24-26) The Holy Communion is an important sacrament in the church; no wonder Jesus emphatically said,...this do in remembrance of me...In the early church, they did exactly what Jesus said. The disciples ...continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrines and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers (Acts 2:42) Notice that the disciples of the Lord Jesus continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine; they listened to, received, accepted, and walked in the light of the world that they were taught by the Apostles. In addition, they came together frequently for fellowship, and partake of the Holy communion. In our ministry, we have our Global communion service every first sunday of the month, and this glorious service is streamed simultaneously across the globe- coast-to- coast. We also fast and pray globally on that day. Thus, like the disciples in the early church, we come together regularly, for fellowship, in breaking of bread, and in prayer. You have to understand the significance of the breaking of bread; its the commemoration of the death of Jesus Christ on your behalf! Its the celebration of the life of glory His vicarious death has brought us into. His body was broken for your wholeness, sanctification, and perfection. Moreover, the cup signifies the New testament in His blood. Jesus shed His blood for the remission of our sins, so that sin shouldnt have dominion over us. Were now the offsprings and heirs of that New Testament that was signed in His blood. What a glorious news! Prayer: Dear father, I thank you for the innumerable blessings of the communion-a sacrament to commemorate the vicarious death of Christ for me. Thank you for the blessed opportunity to fellowship and commune with you in prayer. I rejoice at the glorious impact and changes that take place in my spirit each time I pray, in Jesus Name. Amen. Halleluiah! Futher Study: Ephesians 5:19-21 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;Submitti ng yourselves one to another in the fear of God. 1 Year Bible Reading Plan: Matthew 12:22-50 Genesis 40-41 2 Year Bible Reading Plan: Acts 10:1-8 Job 5-6
