RICHARD E. WHERRY PORTAGE, IN Richard E. Wherry, age 45, of Portage, IN passed away on September 8, 2014. He was born on January 21, 1969 in Valparaiso, IN to Sidney Eugene and Sallie June (Steele) Wherry, whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his sister, Edna (Ken) Elwood of Portage; maternal grandparents, Richard and Edna Whitten of Lake Station; niece, Stephanie; nephews: Nicholas, Thomas, Lucas and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Sidney and Flossie Wherry. Richard worked for the City of Portage and attended Real Life Community Church. He had a huge heart of gold, loved to fish and listen to music. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 6:00 pm at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, IN 46368, with Pastor Scott Jones officiating.
