RIL Digest LET US TALK ABOUT TRUE LOVE (#Seasontwo part one ) Christ himself exposes the old garment of Adam. He cannot hold any new wine in him; he is so ruined and broken (Mathew 9:16-17). No amount of repair can help him to hold any life in Him. He cannot bear the truth of Christ and therefore perverts it unto his own destruction. This is why his ‘wineskins break’, wasting the ‘wine’. The same is what Jeremiah, the prophet received from the very Lord. Jeremiah 2:13; “ For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed themselves out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.” Adam is a broken cistern that can hold no water. This is why there is need to stay under the fountain. We have no vessel of our own to bear the life- giving water but Christ, who is the fountain itself. Do you see how Adam has no part? Oh! Sure he has a part… ‘To die’ and give way for the life of Christ. The same was the message of John the Baptist, “Prepare Ye the way of the Lord”. How? You ought to know the answer by now. It is by the death of the old. I could have been among those that assumed that John the Baptist had lost his mind. Yet Jesus knew exactly what his message was about; and therefore demonstrated it at the Jordan River when He asked John to permit that all righteousness be fulfilled. He asked to be baptized as a symbol of the death he would take on- the death to self. Again, Christ led us there (in Him). This is Love; total experience of God himself in the soul of man. This is freedom from oneself, others and things; esteeming nothing else but God and knowing Him as our only joy and fulfillment.
