RIP Lynn Meadwell Cox I only learned that Bluefield, WV native, Lynn Meadwell Cox, had given up her nine-month battle against cancer a couple of days ago. Today, her son, Nate, posted the sad news that Lynn passed away last night in Colorado, where she had been working as a copy writer. We both arrived at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in the Fall of 1967 (when it was still Richmond Professional Institute) and discovered the campus radio station, WJRB. It changed both our lives. I went on to work in radio and television for only a short ten years; Lynn stayed in communications her entire life. She took those pictures of me behind my first microphone, and in return, I took these pictures of her with Mickey Dolenz and Davy Jones of the Monkees, in the WTVR studios when they were in town for a concert promoted by Ron Brandon for our weekly TV show, Six Teen. Lynn Married announcer and [later] program director, Bill Cox, (which at the time violated company policy) and as a result departed WTVR. She and Bill would later divorce. I never saw her again, but kept in touch via email and Face Book from time to time. You never knew what Lynn would do (as can be seen by the expression on Davy Jones face when she bussed him on the cheek.) She was a very organized and talented copy writer, book keeper and heavens knows what else. She was a go to person. She never said no. We both loved trains. Her son, Nate, is a locomotive engineer for Union Pacific Railroad. My son, Ryan, is an Amtrak engineer. RIP Lynn Meadwell Cox. Ill miss you. We all will.
