ROOM HOPPING - To give those who have never attended a Glow - TopicsExpress

ROOM HOPPING - To give those who have never attended a Glow Convention a better idea of what we mean by Room Hopping, heres a little picture gallery of some of those very rooms from past conventions. Someone recently asked, Is Room Hopping what I think it is? The person obviously had the WRONG idea of what that part of the convention was all about. I instructed that person to get their mind out of the gutter and then realized there can be a confusing connotation with a term we Glowers know as one thing, but outsiders may think is another! Room Hopping at a Glow Convention is all about buying and selling. Room Hopping begins the Sunday BEFORE the convention starts and continues through Friday night. Many of our Glow members bring things to sell from their hotel rooms. The Glows Vintage Policy does NOT apply to hotel guest rooms, so members can sell new, old, or any holiday for that matter, but most focus on selling new or old Christmas lights, ornaments, decorations and trees. Rooms open and close at the discretion of the sellers. Most open during the evening, after dinner. In the old days rooms only opened only at night, but recent years have seen rooms opening during the day. The convention officially starts Wednesday night, but buying and selling from rooms starts as early as Sunday. Yes, a lot of the best pieces are bought and sold prior to the official start of the convention during room hopping, so you should plan on arriving early. Typically, members accept cash, checks and many now accept credit cards during room hopping. Items are displayed on tables and beds and just about anywhere in the room that has a surface! Room hopping is also a GREAT way for new members to get to know seasoned Glow members. You will never see a greater selection of vintage and antique Christmas items for sale than you will at a Glow convention! Are you registered for Lancaster yet???
