RSS targets UPA government, pitches for alternative By Express News Service - KOCHI Hitting out at the Central Government, the RSS national executive meet that concluded here on Sunday, made a clarion call for a change at the Centre after the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. Stressing the need to ensure 100 per cent voting to ensure an alternative at the Centre, the RSS has urged the people to enrol their names in the voters’ list. RSS general secretary Suresh Joshi told reporters that the common men, industrialists and social leaders are unhappy with the present government. On the RSS support to the BJP, Joshi said the Sangh does not involve in its day-to-day politics. “But we have got some national missions for protecting the interests of the country.” Joshi added that the RSS will have no role in choosing the candidates. “The BJP selected its Prime Minister candidate. We have no role in that.” Coming down heavily on the UPA Government, he said the government has failed on all counts. “There is major corruption. The government was not able to check the price rise. The unhappy common man is looking for an alternative.” Advocating mass mobilisation of voters, the RSS general secretary urged people to take part in the electoral process. “The RSS is not a political party. We do not get involved in electoral politics. But, the RSS believes that every voter is responsible and liable to vote. People should make sure that all are enrolled in the voters’ list. Sangh will actively campaign for this. We should ensure 100 percent voting so as to support the rise of an alternative,” Joshi said. Joshi said the RSS would oppose corruption by political parties even if it is the BJP. When asked if 2014 elections are similar to that of 1977, Joshi said that there is no comparison between two.
