Racing History Mostly in Canada yesterdaysspeedways/paved-ovals/northern-raceways/ About Mission Statement: My hope for this site is to bring back some racing history. Unfortunately, some of the pioneers of our great sport are no longer with us and in a lot of cases, their memories went with them. This site is intended for pictures, articles, stories, memories or any other type of memorabilia relating to an Ontario, Canada race track. This includes Ontario, Canada drivers that raced in the USA at tracks like Oswego and Lancaster. You can also find information and pictures on Go Kart Tracks, Drag Strips, Dirt Ovals, Paved Ovals, Road Courses and Hill Climbs. This site has nothing after 1980 (too recent). I hope you enjoy your time here and can help to preserve a bit of this great sport. Biography: My name is Rick Sharples. I have grown up around racing in Southern Ontario. My father Fred Sharples used to work with Norm Morton, Carl Rutledge, Bernie Reddick, Howie Scannell and many more. Howie Scannell’s Castrol Camaro was built in our garage in maple. Back in the 1980s I joined the Can Am Midget club ans stayed with them as an Official for 12 years or so. During my years with the club I was a corner man and a push truck driver. I have been to Cayuga, Delaware, Flamboro, Mosport, Barrie, Sunset, Peterborough, Varney, Sauble, Merritteville and Ohsweken Speedways just to name a few. I am just now about to print my first book on the early years of Stock car racing in Southern Ontario.
