Rahul Bhatia (left) and Sreenivasa Sharma put up a 273-run stand. A massive opening partnership of 273 runs between Sreenivasa Sharma and Rahul Bhatia was the highlight of Delhi Private School, Dubai recent cricket tour to India. The Dubai-based DPS team Dubai who recently toured the southern Indian state of Bangalore, were largely impressive despite losing three close matches during their six-match tour. The tournament played on Twenty20 format for boys under-15 was organised by International School, Bangalore. But the icing on the cake was DPS-Dubai’s match against Max Muller High School, which the tourists won by a massive 109-run margin. Batting first, DPS-Dubai, openers Sharma and Bhatia set the tone for a huge total as they stroked with authority much to the surprise of their opponents. The duo put on 273 runs before Sharma was dismissed for a well compiled knock 105 runs, with just three balls remaining for the close of the innings. Bhatia, meanwhile, was unlucky to miss out on scoring his century as he remained stranded on 97 not out. In reply, Max Muller High School managed to score 166. Sharma was later declared not only the man of the match, but was the unanimous choice for the man of the series as well. DPS-Dubai coach,Prosanta Chanda, who accompanied the players, was elated with the overall performance of his team. “I appreciate the hard work of the kids and looking into the way they have performed, I am confident that some of them would definitely go on to play on the big stage someday.” “The DPS Dubai students are getting an excellent exposure by playing these matches against some quality opponents. The ground facilities were excellent, especially the opportunity to play on turf wickets was equally commendable. Such exposure will help the DPS Dubai students to grow in confidence and play well in the future. “Overall, the DPS-Dubai team played excellent cricket during the tournament and some of the kids performed superbly.” The coach singled out batsmen such as Vivek Aditya, Milind Dongre, Rajansh, Arudra and bowlers like Rishab Mukherjee, Harishankar, Nidhruv, Hritik Mehta, Sanket Zavar, as future prospects. The best fielder of the tournament was Aaakash Radhakrishnan, whowas the youngest of the lot.
