Rain has subsided in some areas, however, many streets remain flooded, including those near and around our Kyrene schools. Please exercise extreme caution when traveling in those areas. For those who were delayed in getting their Kyrene students to school this morning due to the weather, ALL ABSENCES AND TARDIES WILL BE EXCUSED. Parents do not have to call the attendance line to report an absence for today (9/8). Kyrene schools will remain open today, pending any changes in the weather. It is important to remember that some of our families were on campus as early as 6:30 am this morning because parents were required to be on the job as scheduled, regardless of the weather, and they dropped off their children who participate in our before school programs. Many families do not have alternative child care readily available if schools were closed on short notice, so we remained open to provide them with a safe place for their children to be during this unexpected weather situation. Parents do have the right, to keep their child at home if it is not safe for them to travel to a bus stop or to school, especially if there are special needs or health concerns. Students will have an opportunity to make up any school work that was missed as a result of being absent today. Again, thank you for your patience and understanding.
