Raising a glass to my dear Grandad, 6 years on today from his passing. A salt of the earth Notts Gent. Thanks to him we all support Forest & Alfie is our 5th generation Forest fan in the family. Grandad grew up in The Meadows, his Dad first took him to Forest in 1924 and also to Trent Bridge and he went every season after that aside from the war years when there was no football. If I could relive some years of my life one part would be doing my Forest fanzine again with my Grandad in the early 90s. Great times. So generous hed open his door to any Forest fan, including two fellas who subscribed to the fanzine and came all the way from Norway for a match and ended up having lunch at my Grandparents in Brendon Road, Wollo, before we took them to the match. My Uncle has these great pix of my Grandad from when he was a kid with his Dad, mucking about & fishing by the Trent to the war years, in the army cricket team and at our wedding. Gone but never, ever forgotten xx
