Ran into my SIL Mai Na Lee at family early Thanksgiving dinner, who tells me her history book is FINALLY getting close to finalizing...I cant wait to read her writing, based on her PhD studies. She is the best Hmong professor around, in my opinion. She is such a fierce academic writer! OMG, the B.E.S.T. - She teaches at the University of MN. Thus far her introduction is running at 70 pages long. Then the book breaks into chapters, working one theoretical framework, about a specific historical chapter of the Hmong. What I appreciate about her academic style is it has mythical elements weaved in, based on historical research and interviews. I hope her book nails it. Unfortunately it wont be published in time for Christmas, but tracking to publish in 2015. Stay tuned for more about her book. A nice addition to any home library, especially to preserve history for the kids.
