Random Emotions. A friend posted a comment about random emotions. So many times we seem to straddle the constant changes that are around us just hoping to maintain a balance. We may shift our weight one way or another, wondering why or just trying to gather ourselves to make the move or perhaps even just a move to get some control. Random emotions are sometimes just the mind running down the inventory of what is inside us, as though checking that all is in there in the stockroom. We dont always want that to be happening since it may not come at a convenient time. Being human, we have feelings and we have thoughts and we can project forward and backward in time. We have expectations and we have projections; we are culturally defined and what we take in is filtered by our culture as well. There are those times, for me, that like a stone in a moving stream, I am but an impediment to the flow of water, neither good nor bad, just there as life moves along. Random emotions and random thoughts: are they really any different? We are a consortium of life forms, of specialized cells collected together to perform functions that have a running time. Some get replaced, some just get used up, some die and are shed in waste, some get burned up as energy. We are a vessel for bacteria in numbers that exceed the number of cells in our body. Yet, someplace deep inside us, we cling to an I. We are transformed over and over again throughout our physical state of being from sperm and egg to the final dust of death....and still we think of ourselves as I....or you or we or they. We stand in judgement of others as though that will be better define the I that we think we are. But is that true or just expedience for the moment? Wherever your faiths or beliefs take you, to whatever heights or comforts, please remember that we are not privy to all of the Universe and we have this immense capacity to think and discover today, what we did not know yesterday, and may just learn new tomorrow. We are still all learning...it is more troublesome to stop than to continue. We are human and we are a part of the Universe, not apart from the Universe.
