Random early morning memories : We were living in our first house. Gary my oldest son was not a year old yet. 36th Street was a busy street. So he was in his playpen, so I could keep him clean while I worked in the yard. ( I was obsessed with keeping him clean and germ free. My first child. Most mothers understand. lol ) It was a beautiful summer day. I was happily planting flowerbeds. I turned around to say something to Gary , and noticed he looked like he had something in his mouth and was reaching between the wooden bars of his playpen to a little ant hill and pinching one between his little fingers and put it in his mouth before I could get to him. I was horrified ! I got to him. Pulled him out of his playpen forced his little mouth open. He only had 4 teeth and they were covered with little ant body parts, as was his toung. !! Holy shit !! I ran into the house with my first born, sure he was poisoned. I got as many of the ant black body parts as I could out of my now screaming babies mouth and called my mom. Oh my God Mom I franticly told her the story, and she started laughing. I couldnt believe it ! My baby, her first grandchild was probably poisoned and she was laughing??!! Mom !! How could you laugh? Its not funny! What do I do? After Mom had ( still laughing) reassured me Gary would be fine, and I got off the phone with her. I wasnt sure I trusted her judgment, so I called Dr. Stettlers office, and talked to Kathy his nurse - receptionist. I told her everything. She reassured me that my Mom was right. Gary my precious baby would be fine. ( Im Smiling and remembering. ) Troy my second son was like ( He wont like this. ) lol a little pigpen. Once he was outside I couldnt keep him clean as a baby. He was to busy having fun and exploring his world. When Troy was about 1 year old is when The mud puddle started. For years The puddle was a favorite hang out for all the kids in our family , and in the neighborhood. They would all play in that puddle for hours. Mud fights, playing with toys, and later match box cars, and seeing how far the hose would bury its self into the ground. Im sure it was a lost toy graveyard. lol Their puddle was in a safe corner of the yard by the house, in the back so no one could see the mess. lol The kids all loved it. When they were done playing , and it was time to go home, they all knew the rule. I got to hose them all down before they left. hahaha See fun for me too !! hahaha When Joel was old enough , and it was warm enough I plopped him down right in the middle of the puddle, Gary and Troy were a little to old for the puddle now , being about 9 , and 7 by then . But you know they had to show their baby brother all the fun stuff you could do in The Puddle . lol A fun time was had by all, and no one died from the germs or ants, or dirt. lol
