Random morbid thought: In a nuclear attack, unsheltered living things less than a certain distance from the fireball are illuminated by the flash. These entities receive so much high energy radiation that they are turned into piles of carbon before their nervous systems ever register that something is amiss. There is a certain knowledge there that is simultaneously utterly terrifying and a little beautiful.
