Rangers Mark, Stuart, Rose and Kathy have been patrolling Port Phillip today on Parks Victoria vessel ‘Sea Dragon’, having been advised there was a whale in the vicinity. The Southern Right Whale, Physalia utriculus, was found in Lonsdale Bay adjacent to Port Phillip Heads Marine National Park at the entrance to Port Phillip. Local fisherman advised that the whale had been there all morning. Parks Victoria is patrolling to ensure compliance with wildlife regulations that are in place when whales and dolphins are in the area. What an awesome treat!
