Rant: The Primary skill of a sales person is to convince you of a need you didnt know you had. The secondary skill, a byproduct of the first, is to introduce themselves as the expert about that need. As such they make you consciously aware of their expertise and are subconsciously setting themselves up as the answer to that need. The sales person will tap into our innate social psychology to create need via the following methods. - Fear of missing out - Fear of what others think - Fear of being left behind - Fear of being alone - Fear of not being enough - Fear of not having enough - Fear of not being important - Fear of not being attractive - Fear of rejection ... Did you know the greatest fear above death is public speaking? This is a psycho social ailment due to underlying social fears. Even those who claim they dont care what people think, Need someone to hear that in order to validate the remark. Even the anti social need someone to practice upon. All the social anxiety and Fears that come with being human are exposed and monetized via sales. From living the experience to having the materials...its all being sold.. hell we sell ourselves ...right here...right now someone is looking at our pic or reading a post (like this one) and buying exactly what we are selling. The fear of social invalidation and commercial ostracism is so deep within the typical Western psyche that thousands upon thousands fear to be the only one out of thousands who dont have what they perceive the other thousands having. Damn thats deep. Hold up I gotta read that again before I type any more. ... ... ... ... ... ... From Jordans to relationships, some of us stand in line for hours to settle on something manufactured with no real value except for the value society gives to the name. And it is up to that sales person to create that perception. This is one reason why social media is so potent in Marketing. Social self preservation and pride keeps us available and open to marketing masters, as well as law enforcement, politicians, stalkers, and anyone else who can afford to drop some change in the machine to view our social media peep show. We know what you like and dont like and because of it we can predict what or who you will like. Marketing Is a science. We are Sold to sellers to be converted to buyers daily... that is called being Turned Out Is It not? Then we sell ourselves having that experience or material, further propagating the perception... Trick or Treat? I can never tell... Did you know originally the purpose of having a tan wasnt to add color to pale skin? Waaaaaay back in the day a tan was a tell tale sign of exotic vacationing so it was a persons way of advertising their lifestyle and wealth. Selling the experience .... Now the lifestyle has been monetized as a beauty recommendation that just so happens to expose the biggest organ on our body to cancer... Toast away. .. This is why materialistic lifestyle centered spiritual propaganda is such a lucrative industry. Master sales persons with the product of Hope suggests that there are cosmic promises and laws, that if you rub the lamp long enough and wish hard enough youll get your desire. But the message comes with a nominal fee that is totally voluntary. Youre not made to give, just persuaded that its worth giving to, so they can help you understand the mentality in which you must rub the lamp. Help keep your eyes on the prize, as it were. From Hindu based Oprah-esque Mind science to Prosperity Gospel motivational speaking. The product is so desired and mysteriously esoteric that legions of people fight for the truth of it without actually having experienced it because they cant afford to give up hope and lose the faith. Theyve been rubbing the lamp too long to start over. And those that do have some great spectacular manifestation of wealth photoshop out the elbow grease the put Into it, because the pride of being right about this spooky crap out weighs the personal contributions theyve made. This sales gig spands from vacations to vehicles, from healthy products to home decor, from sports to academics, from socially conscious rhetoric to gangsta music albums, from things at the store to pictures stored on our facebook ... alllllll of it has been bought and sold Everything has a price but its the sales person who makes the price paid worth it. And its all ok Until you read the fine print. Buyers remorse is a blip aint it? Aye dont buy into me, Im just Kenyon Martin who had ranted dat
